As a fully integrated US manufacturer, Bertch produces their own components. Limited outsourcing combined with back-hauling their own materials greatly reduces sulfur oxide emissions. Eco-friendly finishing technology minimizes emissions. Formaldehyde-free adhesives and optimizer technology are elements of their environmental program. Sawdust has been regenerated for over 30 years to produce both heat and electricity.
Their culture is hands on. Bertch associates have planted thousands of trees since 1977 and will continue to plant more. “Trees are the most powerful concentrators of carbon on Earth.”
The Bertch campus includes 10 facilities covering in excess of 750,000 sq ft of modern manufacturing space. Environmental responsibility has been ingrained in Bertch’s corporate philosophy since it’s inception in 1977.

All cabinets are hand sanded prior to staining. A penetrating grain stain is then applied and hand-wiped.
The sealer coat, which is a catalyzed conversion coating, is sprayed and cured. This sealer is a blending of alkyd, amino and vinyl resins, which contributes to the overall durability of the system by penetrating the grain of the wood and providing a “link” coat between the stain and the topcoat. The sealer is then sanded and prepared for the topcoat application.
The final coating is a catalyzed, conversion varnish which is a carefully formulated combination of alkyd and amino resins. After spray application the film is cured and cross links to form a superior thermoset coating that possesses exceptional stain , moisture and chemical resistance, while retaining its clarity.
